Upcoming Nisarga Cyclone Updates Maharashtra, Gujrat, & Daman on High Alert!!!



Upcoming Nisarga Cyclone Updates Nisarga Cyclone likely to make landfall at Alibag between 1-4 PM on 3rd June 2020, Coastal areas of Maharashtra, Gujrat, & Daman on Red Alert. The speed of wind at Mumbai will be around 130 kmph, the Nisarga Cyclone is travelling at speed of 12-13 kmph & its 150 km away from the Mumbai,380 km away from the Surat & 100 km away from Alibag.

Apart from Maharashtra, Gujrat, & Daman the Diu, Dadra, Nagar Haveli & some parts of the Madhya Pradesh & Goa are also on alert. Mumbai Police imposed section 144 in the entire city, Central railway reschedules the timings of 8 special trains, only 19 flights will be operated on wednesday from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Mumbai which includes 11 departures & 8 arrivals.



Total 43 NDRF  (National Disaster Response Force) teams deployed 

21 NDRF teams deployed in Maharashtra - Mumbai 8 teams, Navi Mumbai 1 team, Raigad 4 teams, Thane 2 teams, Palghar 2 teams, Ratnagiri 2 teams, Sindhdurg 1 team, & 1 in Pune (in reserve).

18 NDRF teams deployed in Gujrat - Gandhinagar 1 team, Kheda 1 team, Anand 1 team, Bhavnagar 1 team, Bharuch 1 team, Valsad 4 teams,Vadodra 2 teams (in reserve), Amreli 1 team, Gir Somnath 1 team, Surat 3 teams.

2 NDRF teams deployed in Daman & Diu & Dadra & Nagar Haveli each.

More then 1 lakh people are evacuated from Maharashtra, more the 35000 people are evacuated from Gujrat & more than 4000 people are evacuated from Daman & Diu.

Already Maharashtra & Gujrat are severly affected from the Covid-19 & most parts of the state are still under lockdown.

Guidelines issued by the BMC for the Nisarga Cyclone : 

DOs
  • Loose things outside the house should be tied or moved indoors.
  • seal important documents and jewellery in a plastic bag.
  • Regularly inspect battery operated as well as reserve power systems.
  • Pay attention to the official instructions on Television & Radio.
  • Practice the action to be taken in case of emergencies.
  • If you do not live in a mud house/hut, choose a part of the house as an emergency shelter and practice how all the houseas an emergency shelter and practice how all members of the house will use space during the cyclone.
  • Keep an Emergency kit ready.
  • Stay away from windows. Close some windows and keep some windows open so that the pressure is maintained.
  • stay at the center of the room. Stay away from room cornersas debris often accumulates in corners.
  • Hide under strong furniture such as stool or heavy table or fesk, hold it tight.
  • Use your hands to protect your head and neck.
  • Avoid large roof Spaces such as auditoriums and shopping mall.
  • If you find an open space and there is enough time, find right shelter in the nearestpit or pasture.
  • Relocate to pre-determined or administration-determined location.
  • Disconnect the power supply of all non-emergency equipment and tool.
  • Storage drinking water in a clean place (jugs,bottles, etc.)
  • Help people trapped or injured. Provide first aid, as needed.
  • Check for air leaks. If you smell gas or hear a leaking sound, immediately open the windows and exit the building. If possible, turn off the gas valve and report to the gas company.
  • Check for damage to electrical eqipment. If you notice sparks, exposed wires, or burningsmell of rubber, dis connect the main power supply and call electrician.
  • Help those in need of special help like childre, Physically challenged, elderly, neighbours.

DONT's 
  • Don't spread or believe in rumours.
  • Do not attempt to drive or ride any vehicle during cyclone.
  • Stay away from damaged buildings.
  • Do not move injured people unless it is absolutely safe to do so. It may cause more harm.
  • Do not allow oil and other flammable substances to spill, Clean them immediately.
